Travel tech startup TripGuru expands to Australia to share authentic local experiences

Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Cairns – what’s next? Trailblazing travel startup TripGuru has been launching tours in these Australian destinations at rapid-fire speed over the last quarter in its pursuit to spread the travel bug… the kind you want to catch, that is.

“We’re all about sustainable, extraordinary and authentic experiences,” says Sebastian Renzacci, the Hong Kong-based Argentinian CEO of TripGuru. “We wanted to start slowly but organically, first testing our viability in markets like Bali and other Southeast Asian countries.”

The brainchild of two travel junkies

The company began in 2015 as the brainchild of two travel-loving friends, Sebastian and his partner Francesco Piccolo, an Italian millennial previously working in finance. After successfully graduating from a rigorous incubation program in Hong Kong, they scaled their business to reach more travel-hungry adventurers all over the world, including us Aussies who care about environmental-friendly and sustainable experiences!

Empowering local business owners

“In Bali, we began creating these branded TripGuru tours with our operator Oky,” says Sebastian. “Two years after working with us, he was able to hire a team of 11 under him, purchase six more vehicles and shares his love for his homeland with 70 people everyday! Running your own startup is definitely a nerve-wracking journey, but we couldn’t have made such an impact on people’s lives had we stayed in our corporate jobs.”

Better together: Matching millennial travel habits

TripGuru is best loved by solo and couple travelers who love interacting with like-minded wanderers in small groups. Five travellers per tour on average is the sweet spot for many thoughtful travellers today looking for unique experiences to share alongside other globe-trotters and local guides.

“These experiences are better when shared together,” says Sebastian. “We also believe in giving folks a choice to make a positive impact on local communities and their environments.”

TripGuru’s top destinations include Bali (Indonesia), Chiang Mai and Phuket (Thailand), Siem Reap (Cambodia) and Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam). For more information, visit
