Recently Scotty from Adelaide’s Good Taste breakfast sat down with Brett and Kate Ryan from Focus On The Family to talk about the Real Life: Real Love conference.

Brett and Kate were planning to travel to all the nation’s capital cities to host nine marriage conferences and four marriage retreats. Both Brett and Kate are based in Melbourne and due to the second wave of Covid-19 sweeping Victoria, it has forced them to host these conferences online.

“All of that has been thrown into chaos”, Brett explained. “It’s been wonderful to reach people online at the same time and we’ve had people from all over Australia to register…. It’s been really exciting to see people choosing and investing this time to intentionally build on their relationship.”

Even if you have a good marriage, Real Life: Real Love are there to fine tune it. If there are serious strains on your relationship, then this is the perfect opportunity for improvement. A lot of families, especially in Victoria are around each other constantly instead of being at work and school, and this can create stressors in our lives. Kate said communication is the biggest thing to work on.

“You’re put under stressors that you’ve never been put under before and things can be said or done that may have never been said or done before”, Kate said. “A bit of grace and a bit of forgiveness goes a long way.”

The conferences will teach couples how to fill up their emotional love tanks and talks about the reactive cycles of how we tend to keep going back to the same issues.

“We talk about how to better communicate and how to handle conflict in a healthy way”, Brett said. Brett and Kate consult couples from various ages and background and guarantee there are four ways to improve your relationship. “We want people thrive in their marriage”, Kate added.

To register for one of the conferences visit and register on Eventbrite. The conferences kick off from 25th of August.
