David the Lionheart

1079 Life listeners David and Cindy Glass recently shared this story of hope out of trials

A few years ago we were at the routine 20 weeks pregnancy scan for our first child and were told our baby has a rare, complex heart condition.

David was born with multiple heart defects. He was born with only two chambers, one chamber underdeveloped, ASD, AVSD, crossed arteries and leaky valves.

Since birth David has been through five open heart surgeries, a heart transplant and countless procedures. The longest stay in hospital was around eight months.

At our pregnancy scan we were in a counselling room and we felt beaten down with the doctors’ diagnosis but God reminded us the bible verse do not lean on your own understanding but trust in the Lord and Jeremiah 29:11 –

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”

In the midst of our storms these promises comfort us. With hope and faith we pushed on, even when nearly forced to terminate the pregnancy.

As David was growing up the fight got harder and we saw ourselves draw closer to God, praying and believing for bigger miracles. From day one we never doubted and we can say God has never let us down.

We recently started to listen to 1079 Life Adelaide we and feel our journey relates to the path of this station in building hope and faith in people

Today we feel further away from danger but still live day-to-day with David. Being given a second chance in the form of a new heart, David is as good as he has ever been and enjoying life. We believe David’s future and ours are in the hand of God.

There are more stories of prayers, support, hope, faith and kindness and we are so grateful. Most of all we are so thankful to still have our son to be able to share the goodness of God’s grace.
