April’s Open Day Wrap Up

On the 16th of April 1079 Life opened the doors to show you all what goes on behind the scenes.

Friday is PJIF, where PJ stands for “Praise Jesus” but for this day it also stood for Pyjamas! All the 1079 Life staff were decked out in their pyjamas as were many of the guests that walked through the doors on the day. There was everything from colourful onesies to fancy slippers and pants.

At 2pm listeners from far and wide flooded in, greeted first by the wonderful Jodie the Roadie, then taking part in a tour around the studios and offices hosted by our popular breakfast team Bec and Zac, Scotty or Kit.

The studios were very popular, with many families having a go on the mics. We may have found some future radio presenters and DJs as so many of you showed off your amazing talent.

The Roadies were also a part of the day, with Jodie ironing chip packets together to make warm blankets called ‘Buddy Blankets’. The Roadies have partnered with Crisp Packet Project SA to make these survival blankets for the homeless this winter. The blankets will be donated to the Salvation Army in June. You can check out more information and see how you can get involved here.

After the tours, the kids went out and had a play of basketball with the wonderful people from SA Church Basketball whom we would like to thank for being a part of the day.

Many of the kid’s highlights were interacting and joining in with Scotty and Aiden on-air, generating many laughs, and learning the ropes.

The last tours were filtered through around 5 pm, with all families leaving the life studios with a big smile on their dial.

The day was a massive success, and it was great to interact with the community and many passionate listeners.

Many thanks to all the Life staff and volunteers who helped out on the day and made the day a fantastic one and one to remember!
