The Girl Guides celebrate National Biscuit DayOn May 26, the Girl Guides celebrated National Biscuit Day. For their 60th year, they sold traditional vanilla, choc chip, and gluten free biscuits. On the Monday before, the Roadies partnered with the Flagstaff Hill Girl Guides to help promote National Biscuit Day. Together, they headed up to Aberfoyle Park to sell biscuits, and hand out some yummy tasting samples.Junior Leader Alicia Buxton came along, and chatted with the Roadies about her anticipation for the day. ‘It’s a really good fundraiser for us, but it’s also a really good promotional activity for us. It gets us out in the community, and gets people seeing what Girl Guides do.’The Flagstaff unit currently has 36 girls. 5-17 years of age. Through the Girl Guides, they learn leadership skills, the importance serving the community, and skills for life. Some of the girls’ favourite things about Girl Guides are camping, new experiences, making friends and having fun.
