Nice day for a white wedding?
I’m borrowing the words of Billy Idol, but I’m actually referring to having an ‘off season’ winter wedding 🙂 Unfortunately for anyone marrying within Australia, having a ‘white’ snowy winter wedding isn’t an option (darn weather) – which is a real shame because snow is magical! If a true white wedding is your dream, I recommend British Columbia, Canada. SOOO beautiful.
Getting back to my point – here are a few pro’s and con’s in relation to choosing to have your wedding in winter.
Being off season, you can often get discounted rates and packages
It’s more likely that you’ll get your pick of vendors; it’ll be easier to hire who you want because of less competition
Cold weather allows for lovely rich desserts, hot cocoa bars and lots of yummy comfort food to fill up your guests
You won’t have to worry about tan lines in your wedding dress 🙂
Who doesn’t love a candlelit ceremony by a warm cozy fireplace?
It may be cold and/or wet and/or windy!
You’ll need to make sure you have a solid backup plan if you are considering any portion of your day outside
You may need to add a jacket, cape or shawl to your wedding attire, and don’t forget the bridesmaids too!
The flowers you want may not be available
The days are shorter, so you will have to keep your timeline tight in order to get in the photos in that you want before it gets too dark.
