Tax Isn’t Taxing for Vast Majority
A new study as been released showing how little Aussies love doing their taxes, but how many of us love our accountants.
A new financial year has begun so it’s time to wrap up the last one and carefully place it into storage. But before you can do that you have to check if you’ve paid too much or too little to the Tax Man throughout the year.
49% of survey respondents admit that they actually ‘loathe’ completing their return. So it’s not surprising that almost 80% of us leave it to someone else to do for us. Clearly something is going right too as around 78% then say that they do in fact love their accountant!
ServiceSeeking.com.au CEO Jeremy Levitt said it was refreshing to see the old stereotype surrounding accountants getting a face-lift. “Rightly or wrongly, accountants have often been labelled boring geeks without people skills. So it’s great to see they are breaking through that mould and showing off their personalities to capture and grow their business.”
Interestingly enough it pays to get your tax return done sooner rather than later as it tends to be cheapest in July. It stays comparatively low until the end of September when you are likely to see the cost go up. And though we might not admit it to anyone else 51% of respondents said they were happy with the rate of tax they pay!
It seems we’re generally a nation of people willing to get their paperwork in on time, with 61 per cent of those surveyed completing their return in the first two months of the new financial year, with 82 per cent completing it by the end of October deadline for individuals.
